Meet Hector Picard

Hector Picard knows what it’s like for your life to completely change in an instant. In 1992, when Hector was 25 years old, he was working as an apprentice for an electrician when he was involved in an accident that sent 13,000 volts of electricity through his body twice. An accident that could have taken his life left him in a coma and caused him to lose both his arms.

As he began to recover, he thought of his family and specifically of his daughter. He knew he wanted to be there for her and get control back over his life. Hector became an occupational therapy success story as he learned how to once again do things on his own with the help of his care team.

From Therapy To The Walking Dead

After seven months at the Encompass Health Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital, Hector returned home and began his new life. Determined not to let the challenges he faced stop him from reaching his goals, Hector started competing in races and even took on Hollywood as one of the walkers on The Walking Dead. There was no challenge big enough to hold him back.

Hector has competed in hundreds of triathlons in his athletic career, but his most important role is that of husband, father, and grandfather. Every day he seeks to inspire not only the audiences he speaks to but also the ones he loves most in his own family.

He regularly participates in community events and does everything he can to help those in need. Florida is still Hector’s home, but he travels across the world to inspire others to become the best version of themselves.
